Began back on 2007-09-18 and is still going strong - well for the most part anyway. I have gotten so much out of the project and from time to time I go back over the images to see how my work has developed. These past few weeks in May 2009 I have found it hard to stay motivated, so I have decided to take the time to reflect and remind myself of some of the key things I have learned along the way.

"rainbow inside" made on 2007-09-18

I was busy doing a long overdue back up and I looked in to my photo folders only to realise that whole months had passed without a photo folder being created. A stark contrast to the previous year when hardly a week went by without me picking up my camera.

I had been following various daily photo blogs and really liked the idea. I know there are literally thousands of daily photo blogs out there and I that mine would most likely get lost in the noise. Nevertheless, It was a personal project that was designed to challenge and motivate myself to pick up my camera on a regular basis.

"Nieuwmarkt" made on 2007-12-01

Before I began this project I was something of a 'fair-weather' photographer and was easily deterred by a few drops of rain. My daily photo deadline compelled my to find ways to shoot in the rain. I would cut a hole in a plastic bag and wrap it around my digicam. Fortunately my now expired Canon A80 PowerShot had an articulated screen and I could press the camera against a wall to steady it and compose using the rotated articulated screen.

"bike trails" made on 2007-12-19

I am more of a night person and working long hours meant that much of the project was shot after dark. The squared bulky shape of the Canon PowerShot A80 is perfect for balancing on the parcel rack of your bike and this was made using the maximum time that the shutter could stay open 15sec. I also used the 10sec timer to allow the camera to stabilise.
